Taxis will be allowed to pick up and drop off passengers at the Welcome Center ONLY—they will not be allowed to enter Vista Point. In addition, no taxi staging or waiting will be allowed.
Weekend Parking Restrictions at the Golden Gate Bridge
Saturday, May 26 – Monday, September 3, 2018
On weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day, come to the Bridge by bike, bus, or rideshare – just don’t drive your personal vehicle.
To reduce traffic congestion and create a more pleasant experience during peak visitation, the Golden Gate Bridge District will once again restrict personal vehicle parking at the Bridge. These restrictions are in place on weekends and holidays from Saturday, May 26th to Monday, September 3rd, 2018. There are no planned restrictions on weekdays, as traffic is generally lighter and does not clog the Highway 101 corridor.
During the closures, personal vehicles will not be permitted to park at the Welcome Center south end parking lot or at Caltrans’ Vista Point north end parking lot. The closures begin at 11:00 a.m. and typically continue until 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, such as the 4th of July.
To enjoy the Golden Gate Bridge during parking restriction hours:
– Take public transit: http://goldengatebridge.org/visitors/directions.php.
– Travel by foot, bicycle, tour bus, corporate shuttle, taxi, or a ridesharing service such as Lyft or Uber.
– Park in the overflow lots along Merchant Avenue, Lincoln Boulevard, and in the Presidio.
Tour buses will be allowed to park at both the Welcome Center and Vista Point lots. Taxis and rideshare vehicles will be allowed to pick up and drop off passengers at the Welcome Center ONLY—they will not be allowed to enter Vista Point. In addition, no taxi or rideshare staging or waiting will be allowed and ridesharing vehicles will need proper identification.
