Union Square Tree Lighting Ceremony

Friday, November 23: The 29th annual tree lighting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Union Square Park. There will be heavy traffic in the area. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time. For more event details, please visit: http://unionsquareshop.com/TreeLightingUnionSquare.html.

The following street closures will be required from 3 to 9 p.m.:

Geary Street between Powell and Stockton streets
Powell Street between Geary and Post streets
Stockton Street between Geary and Post streets
Post Street between Powell and Stockton streets

Holiday Parking Restrictions at the Golden Gate Bridge

To reduce traffic congestion and create a more pleasant experience during peak visitation, the Golden Gate Bridge District will restrict personal vehicle parking at the Bridge. These restrictions will be in place from Thursday, November 22 through Sunday, November 25 and Saturday, December 22 through Tuesday, January 1, 2019. The closures begin at 11:00 a.m. and typically continue until 5:00 p.m.

During the closures, personal vehicles will not be permitted to park at the Welcome Center south end parking lot or at Caltrans’ Vista Point north end parking lot.

Tour buses will be allowed to park at both the Welcome Center and Vista Point lots. Taxis and rideshare vehicles will be allowed to pick up and drop off passengers at the Welcome Center ONLY—they will not be allowed to enter Vista Point. In addition, no taxi or rideshare staging or waiting will be allowed and ridesharing vehicles will need proper identification.
