Hot Chocolate Run : Estimated 10,000 Runners

The 5K/15K Hot Chocolate Run will take place inside Golden Gate Park extending to The Great Highway ending at Music Concourse Drive. The 5K run will start at 7:20 a.m. and the 15K will start at 8:10 a.m. from Martin Luther King Drive. An approximate attendance of 10,000 runners is expected. Traffic is anticipated to be heavy during the race along John F. Kennedy Drive, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, The Great Highway and Lincoln Way between La Playa and The Great Highway. The following street closures will be required:
- From 8 to 11:30 a.m.: Lincoln Way between La Playa and Great Highway
- From 6 to 11 a.m.: Great Highway between Lincoln Way and Sloat Boulevard
The Hot Chocolate 15k/5k, coined as America’s Sweetest Race, was established in 2008 and wound through the streets of Chicago, Illinois. Since then, over 200,000 participants around the country have joined in, making it one of the nation’s fastest growing race series. Benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the San Francisco event will begin at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park and head west toward the Great Highway where it will turn south and take runners nearly to Sloat Boulevard before looping back on a return to the finish line in the park. At the finish line, participants will be treated to music, hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and more.
Public Transit & Runner Drop-Off
The Golden Gate Park Music Concourse is accessible via the Muni N-Judah Line (Irving St./9th Avenue stop) and the Muni Bus. Please visit this website to plan your trip.
Runner Drop Off for taxis, Uber, Lyft, other ride share services or family members will be located on Fulton St. between 8th Ave. and 10th Ave.
