Annual July 4 Independence Day Fireworks Celebration

Thursday, July 4: The July 4 Annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration will start at 2 p.m. along the waterfront near the Municipal Pier and Pier 39. The fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. Muni will operate on a Saturday schedule with extra Muni service to get people to and from the Fireworks area between Aquatic Park and Fisherman’s Wharf.

As many as 200,000 people are expected in the event area. Traffic congestion and disruption of transit service are expected in the event area. Traffic congestion, temporary street closures and Muni reroutes are expected. To ensure safety, fireworks viewers should pay attention to their surroundings and allow extra travel time to get around the city.

Traffic Restrictions

Treasure Island will be closed to cars for the fireworks this year; only Treasure Island residents will be permitted onto the island by car. To watch the fireworks from Treasure Island, non-residents must arrive by Muni Route 25 Treasure Island, by the Treasure Island Ferry , or by bicycle from Oakland.

The streets between Aquatic Park and Fisherman’s Wharf and north of Bay Street may close as crowds gather for the July 4 Fireworks Celebration. The Embarcadero north of Broadway is also subject to closure for public safety.

Downtown First Thursdays

Thursday, July 4: The Downtown First Thursdays (DFT) event will take place on 2nd Street from 5 to 10 p.m. This event will repeat monthly through April 3, 2025. For event details, visit https://www.dftsf.com/.

The following street closures will be required from noon until midnight, Thursday:

  • 2nd Street between Market and Folsom streets
  • Clementina Street between 2nd and 1st streets
  • Jessie Street between New Montgomery and 2nd streets
  • Minna Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Natoma Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Stevenson Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Tehama Street between Hawthorne and 1st streets

These intersections will remain open at all times: 1) 2nd and Mission streets; 2) 2nd and Howard streets.

Fillmore Jazz Festival

Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7: The Annual Fillmore Street Jazz Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day on Fillmore Street between Jackson and Eddy streets. For more event details, visit www.fillmorejazzfest.com.

The following street closures will be required from 12:01 a.m., Saturday to 11:59 p.m., Sunday:

  • Fillmore Street between Eddy and Jackson streets
  • Washington Street between Webster and Steiner streets
  • Wilmot Street between Webster and Steiner streets
  • Post Street between Webster and Steiner streets
  • Intersections closed: On Fillmore Street at Washington, Wilmot and Post streets

Events at Chase Center

Saturday, July 6 to Wednesday, July 10: There will be multiple events to take place at Chase Center: 1) The 6th Annual California Classic , a summer basketball showcase featuring 2024 NBA Draft picks, second-year pros and more players competing to land their spot on an NBA roster for the 2024-25 season; and 2) Concert Performance by an award-winning band.

Saturday, July 6: California Classic – Day 1 Doubleheader with two games. Doors will open at 1 p.m.

  • Game 1 will begin at 1:30 p.m.: Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Lakers
  • Game 2 will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m.: Warriors vs. Miami Heat
Sunday, July 7: California Classic – Day 2 Doubleheader with two games. Doors will open at 1 p.m.
  • Game 1 will begin at 1:30 p.m.: Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Lakers
  • Game 2 will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m.: Warriors vs. Miami Heat

Tuesday, July 9: Performance by Blink-182 will take place. The show will start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, July 10: California Classic – Day 3 Doubleheader

  • Battle of NorCal: Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings. Game will start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

  • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after an event.
  • Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.

Taxi Stands

There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.

Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.

San Francisco Giants Baseball Games

Tuesday, July 9 through Thursday, July 11: The San Francisco Giants will play three home games at the ballpark. Listed below are start times for these games:
  • Three games against the Toronto Blue Jays: 1) 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, July 9; 2) 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 10; and 3) 12:45 p.m., Thursday, July 11.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:

  • Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after first pitch until the seventh inning.
  • From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
  • Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.

  • 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
  • 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
  • 3rd Street, west side, north of King Street
