Please note, the annual Mochi Pounding ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20, the same day as the Women’s March. The museum will be open on Jan. 20 and will host the program as planned from 11 AM-2 PM, with the Mochi Pounding ceremony itself from 12-1 PM. The Women’s March speeches begin at 12 PM across the street from the museum in Civic Center Plaza. The march begins at 2 PM.

Women’s Rally & March

March : Market Street
The Women’s March will stage a rally and march on Saturday. There will be a rally at Civic Center Plaza beginning at Noon. The march will commence no later than 2 p.m. from Civic Center Plaza, proceed along Market Street and end at Embarcadero Plaza (formerly Justin Herman Plaza). The march may not completely clear Market Street until 7 p.m. A possible attendance between 75,000 to 125,000 is expected.

Market Street will be closed to traffic between 10th and Steuart streets from 1 p.m. to approximately 7 p.m. Cross traffic between gaps in marchers will not be allowed. Mission Street between South Van Ness and Steuart streets will be closed to create a transit only street for Muni service diverted from Market Street from Noon to approximately 5 p.m. Motorists should expect significant delays along the Market Street and Mission Street corridors during the closure.
