Fillmore Jazz Festival

Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2: The Annual Fillmore Street Jazz Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day on Fillmore Street between Jackson and Eddy streets. For more event details, visit www.fillmorejazzfest.com.

The following street closures will be required from 4 a.m., Saturday to 11:59 p.m., Sunday:

  • Fillmore Street between Jackson and Post streets
  • Washington and Wilmot streets between Webster and Steiner streets
  • Intersections: Wilmot and Washington streets at Fillmore Street

July 4 Independence Day Fireworks Celebration

Tuesday, July 4: The July 4 Annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration will start at 2 p.m. along the waterfront near the Municipal Pier and Pier 39. The fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. Muni will operate on a Sunday schedule, but extra Muni service will be provided to and from the fireworks display on The Embarcadero.

Starting from around noon to 11 p.m., large crowds and heavy traffic should be expected to and from Treasure Island.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., no traffic will be allowed north of Lombard Street, from Van Ness to Doyle Drive, except for residents.

As many as 200,000 people are expected in the event area. Traffic congestion and disruption of transit service are expected in the northern section of the city. To ensure safety of the riding public, customers should pay attention to their surroundings and allow extra travel time to get around the City.

The following street closures will be in effect:

  • 6 a.m., Sunday to 5 p.m., Tuesday
    • Jefferson Street from Aquatic Park to Hyde Street
  • 6 a.m., Tuesday to 1 a.m., Wednesday
    • Beach Street from Polk Street to the Terminus
  • 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Tuesday
    • Van Ness Avenue between North Point Street and the Municipal Pier Terminus
  • 11 a.m., Tuesday to 5 a.m., Wednesday
    • Jefferson Street between Hyde and Powell streets
  • 8:30 p.m. to midnight, Tuesday
    • Marina Boulevard exit off Doyle Drive may be closed
  • 9:20 to 10:15 p.m., Tuesday
    • Northbound Embarcadero between Broadway and Bay Street
Note: As the crowd grows and to ensure safety of pedestrians, SFPD Police Officers and SFMTA Parking Control Officers can decide to close Fisherman’s Wharf area bounded by The Embarcadero, Van Ness Avenue and Bay Street earlier than the scheduled time listed above to vehicular traffic.

SF Giants Baseball Games

Monday, July 3 to Wednesday, July 5: The San Francisco Giants will play three home games at the ballpark. Listed below are start times for these games and SF Giants to play:
  • Three games against the Seattle Mariners: 1) 6:45 p.m., Monday, July 3; 2) 1:35 p.m., Tuesday, July 4; and 3) 6:05 p.m., Wednesday, July 5.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:

  • Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after first pitch until the seventh inning.
  • From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
  • Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.

  • 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
  • 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
  • 3rd Street, east side, north of King Street
