Critical Mass

Friday, October 27:  The Critical Mass bicycle ride will begin at Justin Herman Plaza at 6 p.m.

There will be heavy traffic in the area. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.

 

LoveBoat Halloween (Formerly Ghost Ship Halloween) TAXIS NEEDED

Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28:  The annual Ghost Ship Halloween, a dance and art event, will take place at Pier 70.  Event hours will be from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., each night, Friday and Saturday.

A street closure of 22nd Street between Illinois Street and Pier 70 will be required from 12:01 a.m. Friday to midnight, Sunday.

Heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic should be expected in the area around 3rd, 22nd and Illinois streets during the event hours.

Taxi Service

There will be temporary taxi drop off only area on 23rd and Illinois streets.  Pick up for post-event will be on Illinois Street between 22nd and 23rd streets.  Taxi zones are for pick up and drop off only, no staging will be permitted.

 

Pilgrimage of St. Jude Thaddeus

Saturday, October 28:  The 14th annual St. Jude Pilgrimage will take begin at 10 a.m. and will finish around 1 p.m.

Parade formation and staging will be on the grounds of St. Paul’s Church on at Valley Street.  The procession will start at St. Paul’s Church, then proceed south on Church Street, east on 29th Street, north on Mission Street, east on 14th Street, north on South Van Ness Avenue, west on Pine Street, south on Steiner Street, then on to Bush Street to St. Dominic Church where the parade will disband.

There will be no street closures for the event.

The following Muni routes will be rerouted:  14 Mission; 14R Mission Rapid; 33 Ashbury/18th; 47 Van Ness; and 49 Van Ness/Mission.

Routes crossing Mission Street and Van Ness Avenue may experience minor delays during the pilgrimage parade.

Halloween Party Guide

Dreamforce Convention

Next Wednesday, November 1, through Saturday, November 11:  A street closure of Howard Street between 3rd and 4th streets will be required for the Dreamforce Convention event.  The street closure will begin at 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 1 and will continue through 8 p.m., Saturday, November 11.

Monday, November 6 through Thursday, November 9:  The Salesforce Corporation will be holding its yearly Dreamforce Convention at the Moscone Center.  Conference hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., each day.  An attendance of 45,000 is expected to attend workshops and product demonstrations at Moscone Center North, South, and West.

Significant traffic congestion is anticipated in and around Moscone Center between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily for the duration of the closure. Travelers are encouraged to take public transit or use alternate routes. There will be heavy pedestrian traffic in the area.

Howard Street traffic will be detoured via southbound 2nd Street to Harrison Street, or via New Montgomery Street to Hawthorne Street to either Folsom or Harrison streets.

 

There will be temporary taxi stands for pick up and drop off only:

  • Eastside of Third Street (northbound) between Howard and Minna streets
  • Southside of Howard Street (westbound) between 4th and 5th streets

Día de Los Muertos

(Festival of Altars and Day of the Dead Procession)

Thursday, November 2:  The annual celebration of Festival of Altars and Day of the Dead Procession will take place in the Mission District.  Staging of Day of the Dead procession will begin on Bryant Street and the Festival of Altars will take place in the Garfield Park from 6 to 11 p.m.

Beginning at 6 p.m., staging of the procession will start on southbound Bryant Street between 19th and 24th streets. The procession will begin at 7 p.m. and follow the route with south on Bryant Street, west on 24th Street, north on Mission Street, east on 22nd Street and back onto Bryant Street for dispersal.

Traffic and Muni routes will be detoured around the procession.

Traffic in the event area should be expected to be heavy until approximately 9 p.m. Motorist and transit riders should allow extra travel time.
