U.S. Navy Fleet Week

Monday, Oct. 3 through Monday, Oct. 10: Fleet Week will be held along Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina District and Piers 30, 32 & 35 on The Embarcadero.

The Blue Angels will have official shows from Friday, Oct. 7 to Sunday, Oct. 9. Shows will begin at noon, each day, Friday through Sunday.

From Friday through Sunday, the Parade of Ships, air shows and ship tours will be held to celebrate the U.S. Navy Fleet Week. These events will impact the Fisherman’s Wharf area and the Marina District.

The celebration will begin on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Parade of Ships and continue on Saturday and Sunday, from Noon to 4 p.m. Ship tours will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m on Wednesday, Oct. 5, Thursday, Oct. 6, Saturday, Oct. 8 and Sunday, Oct. 9. Ship tours will be open from 9 a.m. to Noon on Monday, Oct. 10.

Street Closures

Jefferson Street between Hyde Street and westerly terminus will be closed from 6 a.m., Friday, Oct. 7 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.

 

Taxi Stands

Taxi stands to allow taxis to service the event are at the following locations:

  • Beach and Hyde streets
  • Pier 39
  • Alcatraz Landing/Pier 33
Traffic congestion and disruption of transit service is expected in the northern section of the city after the Fleet Week Air Shows.

Italian Heritage Parade

Sunday, Oct. 9: The annual Italian Heritage Day Parade will be held in North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf beginning at 12:30 p.m. from Jefferson and Powell streets and proceed to Washington Square. For event details, visit sfitalianheritage.org.

The parade formation will require the following street closures, beginning at 8 a.m.:

  • Powell Street between Chestnut and Beach streets
  • Stockton Street between Bay and Beach streets
  • Beach Street between Mason Street and Grant Avenue
  • North Point Street between Mason Street and The Embarcadero
  • Francisco Street between Stockton and Mason streets
  • Greenwich Street between Powell and Columbus streets
The parade route will begin on Jefferson Street at Mason Street, proceed west on Jefferson Street, south on Leavenworth Street, south on Columbus Avenue, south on Stockton Street, east on Vallejo Street, north on Columbus Avenue, north on Stockton Street, east on to Filbert Street and past the review stands at Washington Square Park. Parade units will disburse on Powell Street. Traffic along the parade route will be closed until the parade clears, approximately at 3 p.m.

Grace Notes Community Music Festival

On Saturday, Oct. 8, there will be a small music festival and community gathering on the site of the historical Black Hawk Jazz Cafe and the playground across Hyde Street, as well as in the street. The Hyde Street Community Music Program at Demonstration Gardens is sponsoring the Grace Notes Music Festival Summer 2022 in partnership with SEIU Local 87, Friends of Turk & Hyde St, Hyde Street Studios, and Faithful Fools.

A closure of Hyde Street between Turk and Eddy streets will be required from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8.

Events at Chase Center

Sunday, Oct. 9 through Wednesday, Oct. 12: There will be multiple performances to take place at the Chase Center:
  • Sunday, Oct. 9: The Warriors will play their first pre-season game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Game will start at 5:30 p.m. Doors will open at 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 11: The Warriors will play their second pre-season game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Game will start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 12: Pet Shop Boys and New Order will perform at Chase Center. Show will start at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

  • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after an event.
  • Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.
Taxi Stands
  • There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.
  • Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way (formerly South Street) at Bridgeview Way.

Lesbian Who Tech Conference 2022

Wednesday, Oct. 12 through Friday, Oct. 14: The 9th Annual Lesbians Who Tech & Allies Summit event will take place on Castro Street from Wednesday, Oct. 12 to Friday, Oct. 14. For event details visit https://lesbianswhotech.org.

Effective from 11:59 p.m., Monday, Oct. 11 through 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, the following closures will be required:

  • Castro Street between Market and 19th streets will be closed
  • The SFMTA parking lots at 457 Castro Street and 4116 18th Street
