PCOs Controlling Traffic Flow During Opening Night of New Chase Center Arena | September 6, 2019

Events at Chase Center

Thursday, May 4: The Warriors’ Playoff Game 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers. Game will start at 6 p.m. with doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Friday, May 5: Ricardo Arjona will perform at Chase Center. Performance will begin at 8 p.m. with doors open at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 10: The Warriors’ Playoff Game 5 against the Los Angeles Lakers may take place. Times for game to start and doors to open to be decided.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

  • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after an event.
  • Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.
Taxi Stands
  • There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.
  • Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.
Additional Passenger Loading
  • 4th Street which connects to Chase Center via Gene Friend Way pedestrian path which cuts through UCSF campus.
  • Owens Street connects to Chase Center via Gene Friend Way pedestrian path which cuts through UCSF campus.

  • San Francisco Giants Baseball Game

  • Friday, May 5 to Wednesday, May 10: The San Francisco Giants will play six home games at the ballpark. Listed below are start times for these games and SF Giants to play:
    • Three games against the Milwaukee Brewers: 1) 7:15 p.m., Friday, May 5; 2) 4:15 p.m., Saturday, May 6; and 3) 1:05 p.m., Sunday, May 7.
    • Three games against the Washington Nationals: 1) 6:45 p.m., Monday, May 8; 2) 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 9; and 3) 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, May 10.

    Street Closures

    To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:

    • Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after first pitch until the seventh inning.
    • From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
    • Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.

    • 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
    • 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
    • 3rd Street, east side, north of King Street
  • San Francisco Lowrider Council Tribute to Selena

  • On Saturday, May 6: The San Francisco Lowrider Council will pay tribute to Selena with a lowrider cruise along Mission Street and through the local area. Lowriders will gather at 4 p.m. on Mission Street between Cesar Chavez and 22nd Street. Some transit corridors may become blocked for temporary periods of time.There is no planned street closure. Temporary transit detour and traffic congestion should be expected. Travelers heading to the area should allow extra travel time.

  • Lower Haight Art Walk

  • Saturday, May 6: The Lower Haight Merchants and Neighbors Association(LOHAMNA) will hold the first of a series of “Art Walk” events. The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Haight Street between Waller and Scott streets.

    The following closures will be required from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, May 6:

    • Haight Street between Scott and Webster streets
    • Intersections of Haight Street at Pierce and at Steiner streets

    This event will also take place on Saturday, Sept. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 2.

    During street closures, the 6 Haight/Parnassus and 7 Haight/Noriega Muni routes will be rerouted.
