Bear Longyear
By Peter Miller
Bear Longyear was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He worked in industrial automation, taught English in China, and drove cabs in Toledo and Chicago before coming to National in 2002 and later at Yellow. His badge was 55299. Bear was an engineer and a community organizer. He spent some time face painting in Fisherman’s Wharf. He enjoyed playing board games and intended to pursue artistic endeavors. He was a professional cab driver who cared and understood how to do it right. He will be missed, and the SF taxi industry is less without him.
