Hardly Strictly Bluegrass – Temp Taxi Stands

Golden Gate Park

It’s a music lover’s dream weekend as the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival returns to Golden Gate Park with dozens of artists representing multiple genres ready to entertain the thousands expected to attend the annual free event. The festival consists of five stages, over 50 food and drink vendors and more than enough fun to pack your entire weekend.

Temporary taxi stands for the event will be in place at the following locations from Friday at 9 a.m. to Monday at 2 a.m.:

  • Fulton Street (south side) between 35th and 36th avenues
  • Fulton Street (south side) between 28th and 29th avenues

U.S. Navy Fleet Week

Monday, October 1 through Monday, October 8: Fleet Week will be held along Fisherman’s Wharf and the Marina District.

In support of our military personnel, the SFMTA will offer free Muni Service (including Cable Car) to those in uniform or those who present military ID card during Fleet Week from Monday, October 1 through Monday, October 8.

The Blue Angels will have official shows on :

Friday, October 5
Saturday, October 6
Sunday, October 7

from Noon to 4 p.m., each day.

From Friday through Sunday, the Parade of Ships, air shows and ship tours will be held to celebrate the U.S. Navy Fleet Week. These events will impact the Fisherman’s Wharf area and the Marina District.

The celebration will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Parade of Ships and continue on Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 4 p.m. Ship tours will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday through Monday.  A crowd of over 300,000 is expected each weekend day.

Street Closures

Jefferson Street between Hyde Street and westerly terminus will be closed from 6 a.m., Friday, October 5 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 7.

Traffic congestion and disruption of transit service will be expected in the northern section of the city after the Fleet Week Air Shows.

 

Sunday, October 7: The Castro Street Fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more details, visit http://www.castrostreetfair.org/.

The following street closures will be required from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m.:

  • Castro Street between 16th and 19th streets
  • 18th Street between Noe and Diamond streets
  • 17th Street between Noe and Market streets
  • Hartford Street between 17th and 19th streets
  • Collingwood Street between Market and 19th Street

The following Muni lines and routes will be affected, including reroutes around the event: F Market; 24 Divisadero; 33 Ashbury/18th Street; and 35 Eureka.

There will be a temporary taxi stand at the north side of 16th Street (Corner of Noe and 16th streets) for pick up and drop off only.

Italian Heritage Parade

Sunday, October 7: The 150th Annual Italian Heritage Day Parade will be held in North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf beginning at 12:30 p.m. from Jefferson and Powell streets and proceed to Washington Square. The parade should last 2.5 hours and 150,000 people are expected.

The parade formation will require the following street closures, beginning at 8 a.m.:

  • Powell Street between Chestnut and Beach streets
  • Stockton Street between Bay and Beach streets
  • Beach Street between Mason Street and Grant Avenue
  • North Point Street between Mason Street and The Embarcadero
  • Francisco Street between Stockton and Mason streets
  • Greenwich Street between Powell and Columbus streets

The parade route will begin on Jefferson Street at Mason Street, proceed west on Jefferson Street, south on Leavenworth Street, south on Columbus Avenue, south on Stockton Street, east on Vallejo Street, north on Columbus Avenue, north on Stockton Street, east on to Filbert Street and past the review stands at Washington Square Park. Parade units will disburse on Powell Street. Traffic along the parade route will be closed until the parade clears.

 

Cruise Ship Schedule : October

Typically passengers begin to disembark 45 minutes after the ship arrives and unloading continues for a couple of hours
