Big Book Sale at Fort Mason : 500,000 books priced between $2 & $4

Wednesday-Sunday, 10 AM to 6 PM

An iconic San Francisco tradition, the 54th Big Book Sale returns to Festival Pavilion Pier at Fort Mason with thousands of books spanning multiple genres. This multi-day event attracts people from all over the Bay Area and beyond. Categories in the sale include hundreds of cookbooks, graphic novels, literature, children’s books, science fiction, mystery, LPs and more. Hardcovers, paperbacks, 1st editions, classics and best sellers can all be found and the shelves are restocked each day. As a bonus, the last day of the event, November 4th, all books will be just $1!

Día de los Muertos
(Festival of Altars and Day of the Dead Procession)

Friday, November 2: The annual celebration of Festival of Altars and Day of the Dead Procession will take place in the Mission District. Staging of Day of the Dead procession will begin on Bryant Street and the Festival of Altars will take place in the Garfield Park from 6 to 11 p.m. For more event details, please visitwww.dayofthedeadsf.org.

Beginning at 6 p.m., staging of the procession will start on southbound Bryant Street between 19th and 24th streets. The procession will begin at 7 p.m. and follow the route with south on Bryant Street, west on 24th Street, north on Mission Street, east on 22nd Street and back onto Bryant Street for dispersal.

Traffic and Muni routes will be detoured around the procession.

Bay Area Science Festival Discovery Day at AT&T Park

Saturday, November 3: The annual Discovery Day at AT&T Park will take place from 11a.m. – 4:30 p.m., as part of the Bay Area Science Festival. For details, please see http://www.bayareasciencefestival.org/event/discovery-day-at-att-park-11/

Taxi Service

Temporary taxi stands for the event will be in place at the following locations:

  • East side of 2nd Street between King and Townsend streets, seven spaces
  • West side of 2nd Street between King and Townsend streets, two spaces
  • West side of 2nd Street between Townsend and Brannan streets, five spaces
  • West side of 3rd Street between King and Townsend streets, five spaces

 

End of Daylight Saving Time

Sunday, November 4: Daylight Saving Time will end at 2 a.m., Sunday. Clocks should be set back one hour at this time.

Golden Gate Half Marathon

Sunday, November 4: The Golden Gate Half Marathon will start at Van Ness Avenue and Bay Street and will go westbound up Laguna Street to Marina Boulevard, then through the Presidio to Golden Gate Bridge and back through the Marina and Fort Mason, ending at Aquatic Park. The following street closures will be required:

6:30 to 8 a.m., Sunday

  • Southbound Van Ness Avenue from North Point to Bay streets
  • Westbound Bay Street from Van Ness Avenue to Laguna Street

6:30 to 10:30 a.m., Sunday

  • One westbound lane on Marina Boulevard from Buchanan Street to Marina Gate
  • Laguna Street between Bay and Beach streets
  • Westbound Beach Street between Laguna and Buchanan streets

 

Cruise Ship Schedule : November & December

Typically passengers begin to disembark 45 minutes after the ship arrives and unloading continues for a couple of hours
