Dreamforce Convention

Tuesday, Sept. 14, through Sunday, Sept. 26: A street closure of Howard Street between 3rd and 4th streets is required for the Dreamforce Convention beginning at 6 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14 and continuing through 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26.

Tuesday, Sept. 21, through Thursday, Sept. 23: Salesforce will be holding its yearly Dreamforce Convention with a select few attendees at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, while the rest of the world will be joining virtually.Conference hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Attendance will be drastically reduced from past years with no pedestrian crowds anticipated. For more information, visit https://www.salesforce.com/dreamforce/.

Significant traffic congestion is anticipated around Moscone Center between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily for the duration of the closure, particularly to the east of 4th Street.

Howard Street traffic will be detoured via southbound 2nd Street to Harrison Street, or via New Montgomery Street to Hawthorne Street to either Folsom or Harrison streets.Nearby taxi stands at the following location

San Francisco Marathon

Sunday, Sept. 19: The annual San Francisco Marathon will begin from The Embarcadero and Mission Street at 5:30 a.m., with staggered starts continuing until 6:30 a.m. The route for the full marathon looped north along The Embarcadero, through Fisherman’s Wharf and the Marina into the Presidio, crossed Golden Gate Bridge, then returns to the Presidio and continues into the Richmond District, running south on 26th and 27th avenues. The race continues through Golden Gate Park, and then through the Haight, crossing Market Street at Guerrero Street, and then runs through the Mission District primarily on 16th Street to Mission Bay, then heads up Terry Francois to return to The Embarcadero and the finish line. There are six additional races that are staged on portions of the route for the full marathon. Approximately 10,000 runners are expected. This will be a large citywide running event. Traffic in the area will be affected as soon as the race begins. The following are travel options to cross the marathon route:

East/West Travel

  • Richmond District: all streets with exceptions of Lake Street and El Camino Del Mar
  • Dogpatch: 18th and 20th Street
North/South Travel
  • Great Highway
  • 19th Avenue
  • Steiner Street
  • Fillmore Street
  • Valencia Street
  • Mission Street
  • South Van Ness Avenue
  • Folsom Street (from 15th to 17 streets)

Taxi Service: Between 12:01 a.m. and 7 p.m., Sunday, there will be temporary taxi stands for the event at the following locations:
  • Clay Street between Drumm and Davis streets

Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival

Saturday, Sept. 18: The Richmond District Autumn Moon Festival will take place on Clement Street between 6th and 9th avenues, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The following street closures will be required from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday:

  • Clement Street between 6th and 9th avenues
  • 7th Avenue between Cornwall Street and Geary Boulevard
  • 8th Avenue between Cornwall Street and Geary Boulevard
  • Intersections: 7th and 8th avenues at Clement Street

San Francisco Giants Baseball Game

Friday, Sept. 17 through Sunday, Sept. 19: The San Francisco Giants will play three home games against the Atlanta Braves at the ballpark. Listed below are start times for these games: 1) 6:45 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17; 2) 6:05 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 18; and 3) 1:05 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:

  • Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after first pitch until the seventh inning.
  • From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
  • Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.

  • 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
  • 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
  • 3rd Street, east side, north of King Street

Leather Walk

Sunday, Sept. 19: The historic march through SoMa will take place on Sunday.

This year the Leather Walk will begin at City Hall at 11 a.m. and proceed down Polk Street to Market Street, then down to 11th Street to Folsom Street, then to various locations within the Leather Cultural District, ending up at Eagle Plaza at 12th and Harrrison streets.

There will be a street closure of 12th Street between Bernice and Harrison streets from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday.
