Downtown First Thursdays

Thursday, Aug. 7: The Downtown First Thursdays (DFT) event will take place on 2nd Street from 5 to 10 p.m. This is a free monthly street party that takes place every first Thursday of the month. For event details, visit www.dftsf.com.

The following street closures will be required from noon until midnight, Thursday:

  • 2nd Street between Market and Folsom streets
  • Clementina Street between 2nd and 1st streets
  • Jessie Street between New Montgomery and 2nd streets
  • Minna Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Natoma Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Stevenson Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Tehama Street between Hawthorne and 1st streets

These intersections will remain open at all times: 1) 2nd and Mission streets; 2) 2nd and Howard streets.

Valkyries

Event at Chase Center

Saturday, Aug. 9 through Tuesday, Aug. 12: There will be multiple events to be held at the Chase Center:
  • Saturday, Aug. 9: The Golden State Valkyries will play against the Los Angeles Sparks at the Chase Center. The game will start at 5:30 p.m. Doors will open at 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 10: Performance by the rock band Hearts will take place. The concert will start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 11: The Golden State Valkyries will play against the Connecticut Sun at the Chase Center. The game will start at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 12: Performance by Keshi will take place. The concert will start at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

  • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after the event.
  • Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.

Taxi Stands

There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.

Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.

Outside Lands

Friday, Aug. 8 through Sunday, Aug. 10: Outside Lands will be held in Golden Gate Park from noon to 10 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Attendance of over 75,000 participants each day is expected over the course of the weekend. For more event details, visit https://sfoutsidelands.com.

Taxi

Temporary taxi stands for the event will be in place at the following locations from 9 a.m., Friday to 2 a.m., Monday:

  • Irving Street between 26th and 27th avenues. (Taxi Zone)
  • Fulton Street between 24th and 25th avenues. (Taxi Zone)
  • Fulton Street between 28th and 29th avenues. (Taxi Zone)
  • Larkin Street. between Hayes and Grove streets. (Taxi Shuttle Service to Festival)

Chinatown Night Market

Friday, Aug. 8: The monthly night market will take place in Chinatown. This is an event that takes place on the second Friday of each month, from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The following street closures will be required from 1 to 11:59 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8:
  • Grant Avenue between California and Pacific streets
  • Waverly Plaza between Washington and Sacramento streets
  • Commercial Street between Grant Avenue and Kearny Street
All other intersections will remain open.

 

SF Giants Baseball Game

Friday, Aug. 8 through Wednesday, Aug. 13: The San Francisco Giants will play six games at the ballpark. Listed below are the start time for these games:
  • Three games against the Washington Nationals: 1) 7:15 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8; 2) 1:05 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9; and 3) 1:05 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10.
  • Three games against the San Diego Padres: 1) 6:45 p.m., Monday, Aug. 11; 2) 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12; and 3) 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:

  • Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after the first pitch until the seventh inning.
  • From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
  • Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.

  • 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
  • 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
  • 3rd Street, west side, north of King Street

Pistahan Parade and Festival

Saturday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 10: The 32nd annual Pistahan Festival will take place at Yerba Buena Gardens from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., each day. For more event details, visit www.pistahan.net.

Saturday, Aug. 9: A parade for the Pistahan Arts Festival will begin at Grove and Larkin streets in Civic Center with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m.

The parade will start at 11 a.m. traveling east on Grove Street, east on Market Street, south to 4th Street and into Yerba Buena Gardens, where the Pistahan Festival will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.

Cross traffic will be allowed between parade units on an intermittent basis. Motorists should allow extra travel time if planning to cross Market Street between 8th and 4th streets.
