Super Bowl Experience from Tuesday, Feb. 3 to Saturday, Feb. 7

Super Bowl Experience is taking place from Tuesday, Feb. 3 to Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Moscone Center. There are street closures and traffic detours in the areas surrounding Union Square and in SoMa near the Moscone Center. From late night Friday, Jan. 30 through early morning Tuesday, Feb. 10, Howard, Mission, and 4th streets will experience rolling street closures. Local access and Muni service will be maintained.

Street Closures

There are numerous street closures and traffic restrictions during the lead-up to the Super Bowl. To help with trip planning needs, listed below are planned street closures in and around the event areas:

SoMa Closures

The following street closures are effective from 6 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30 to 6 a.m., Tuesday, Feb.10:

  • Howard Street between 3rd and 4th streets; the southern-most travel lane and the south parking lane between Hawthorne and 3rd streets
  • Folsom Street (northern-most travel lane and north parking lane) between Mabini and 3rd streets
  • 3rd Street (two western-most parking or travel lanes) between Harrison and Stevenson streets
  • 4th Street (two eastern-most parking or travel lanes) between Market and Folsom streets
  • Jessie East Street between Mission and Jessie streets
  • Jessie Street between Jessie East and 4th streets
The following street closures take effect from 10 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31 to 6 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10 (Only Muni and local access are allowed on 4th Street during the closure hours):
  • 4th Street (two western-most right turn lanes) between Minna and Howard streets
  • Minna Street between 4th Street and the InterContinental driveway
  • Howard Street (north parking lane) between 4th and 5th streets
The following street closures take effect daily, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., from Saturday, Jan. 31 to Sunday, Feb. 8 (Only Muni and local access is allowed on 4th Street during the closure hours):
  • 4th Street between Market and Howard streets
  • Howard Street between 4th and 5th streets (Only Local access is allowed from 5th at Howard Street)
The following street closure takes effect daily, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., from Monday, Feb. 2, to Sunday, Feb. 8:
  • Mission Street between 3rd and 5th streets (Only Muni and local access is allowed)
The following street closure takes effect from 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, to 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9:
  • Minna Street between New Montgomery and 3rd street (Local access is allowed from New Montgomery Street)
The following street closure takes effect from 8 a.m., Friday, Feb. 6, to 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9:
  • Jessie Street between New Montgomery and Annie streets

Traffic Detours

Along with street closures, there are several other traffic detours and restrictions during the event.

  • Southbound travel restricted daily, all day, from Saturday, Jan. 31 until Sunday, Feb. 8
    • Stockton Street at Post Street
    • Stockton Street at O’Farrell Street
  • Only local access is allowed, from Saturday, Jan. 31 until Sunday, Feb. 8
  • Ellis Street between Stockton and Cyril Magnin streets
  • Stockton Street between Post and Ellis streets
  • Local access will be accommodated via a temporary Howard Street eastbound lane, from northbound 5th Street, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. daily, from Saturday, Jan. 31 until Sunday, Feb. 8
    • Howard between 4th and 5th streets
    • 4th Street between Howard and Folsom streets
  • Only local access is allowed, from Saturday, Jan. 31 until Tuesday, Feb. 10
    • Minna Street between 4th and 5th streets
  • Only local access is allowed, from Monday, Feb. 2 until Sunday, Feb. 8:
    • Mission Street between 4th and 5th streets
  • Only local access will be allowed, from Thursday, Feb. 5 until Monday, Feb. 9
    • Minna Street between 3rd and New Montgomery streets
  • Only local access will be allowed from Friday, Feb. 6 until Monday, Feb. 9
    • Jessie Street between Mission and 4th streets
    • Jessie East Street between Mission and 4th streets

Taste of the NFL at The Hibernia Bank

The following street closures will take effect from 11 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, to 7 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 8:
  • Jones Street between McAllister Street and Golden Gate Avenue
  • McAllister Street (westbound travel and parking lanes) between Jones and 7th streets

Budweiser Clydesdale Horses

The following street closures take effect from 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday Feb. 5:
  • Laguna Street between Francisco and Bay streets

Bill Graham Auditorium Concerts

Bill Graham Auditorium will host three night concerts, from 7 to 11:30 p.m. each night, on Thursday Feb. 5, Friday Feb. 6, and Saturday Feb. 7.

The following street closures take effect as listed (local and Muni access only):

  • From 4 to 11:59 p.m. each day, Thursday Feb. 5, Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday Feb 7:
    • Grove Street between Van Ness Avenue and Polk Street
  • From noon to 10 p.m., Saturday Feb. 7
    • Polk Street (Carlton B. Goodlett Place) between McAllister and Hayes streets
(No access will be allowed from 10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7 to 1 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 8)

Pier 80 Concert Series

Thursday, Feb. 5, to Saturday, Feb. 7: There will be a concert series to take place at Pier  80. For event details visit Pier80.

Listed below are concert hours for each day:

  • From 6 to 11 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5
  • From 5 to 11:59 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6
  • From 4 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7

To facilitate these concerts, the following street closures are required:

  • Marin Street between 3rd Street and Easterly Terminus
  • 25th Street between 3rd and Michigan streets (Muni only)
  • Illinois Street between Cargo Way/Amador Street and 23rd Street
  • Michigan Street between Marin and Cesar Chavez streets
  • Cesar Chavez Street between 3rd and Easterly Terminus
  • 3rd Street (northbound) between Cargo Way and 23rd Street (Only Muni will be allowed)
  • Intersections closed:
    • Marin Street at Illinois Street
    • Marin Street at Michigan Street
    • Illinois Street at 24th Street
    • Illinois Street at 25th streets
    • Cesar Chavez Street at Illinois Street
    • Cesar Chavez Street at Michigan Street

Downtown First Thursdays

Thursday, Feb. 5: The Downtown First Thursdays (DFT) event will take place on 2nd Street from 5 to 10 p.m. This is a free monthly street party that takes place every first Thursday of the month. For event details, visit www.dftsf.com.

The following street closures will be required from noon until midnight, Thursday:

  • 2nd Street between Market and Folsom streets
  • Clementina Street between 2nd and 1st streets
  • Jessie Street between New Montgomery and 2nd streets
  • Minna Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Natoma Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Stevenson Street between New Montgomery and 1st streets
  • Tehama Street between Hawthorne and 1st streets
These intersections will remain open at all times: 1) 2nd and Mission streets; 2) 2nd and Howard streets.

Xuân Yêu Thương- Vietnamese New Year Festival

Saturday, Feb. 7: To celebrate Tet, there will be a street fair in the Tenderloin District. Event will take place on Larkin Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with live performances and vendors.

A street closure of Larkin Street between O’Farrell and Eddy streets will be required from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Lunar New Year Good Luck Night Market

Saturday, Feb. 7: To celebrate Lunar New Year, there will be a night market in the Richmond District on Balboa Street. Event hours are from 3 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, visit richmond-district-lunar-new-year.

A street closure of Balboa Street between 35th and 39th avenues, including all intersections will be required from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday.

Events at Chase Center

Saturday, Feb. 7 to Wednesday, Feb. 11: There will be events at the Chase Center:
  • Saturday, Feb. 7: Dave Chappelle will perform at the Chase Center. Show will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 9: The Warriors will host a home game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Game will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 11: The Warriors will host a home game against the San Antonio Spurs. Game will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Muni will provide supplement 78X Arena Express service:
  • Pre-event express shuttle service from 16th Street BART Station to Chase Center will start two and a half hours before each game/event and will end one hour after game/event starts.
  • Post-event express shuttle service from Chase Center on 16th Street to 16th Street BART Station will run until the clears.

Special Event Parking Rates

During basketball games and other major events with more than 10,000 expected attendees at the arena, parking meters close to the arena will charge a special event rate of $12 per hour. These rates help reduce congestion and keep parking spots available in the neighborhoods near the arena, discouraging circling for free or cheap parking. Start times for special event rates vary based on the start time of the event. More information on special event parking regulations can be found on www.sfmta.com/special-event-parking.

Street Closures

To accommodate events that will take place at the arena, the following street closures will be enforced two hours before and one hour after each event:

  1. 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  2. Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  3. Northbound 3rd Street between 16th Street and Warriors Way will also be closed approximately 30 minutes before and 45 minutes after the event.

Only local access will be allowed on Northbound Illinois Street between Mariposa and 16th streets.

No Parking Zone

To facilitate loading and pick up for Muni customers and patrons, NO PARKINGwill be in effect at these locations during events:

  • 16th Street between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Warriors Way between 3rd Street and Terry Francois Boulevard
  • Between the 500 and 700 blocks of Terry Francois Boulevard (TFB)

Taxi Stands

There is one taxi stand located on southbound Terry Francois Boulevard.

Ramp Taxis should use the loading zone on eastbound Warriors Way at Bridgeview Way.
