Annual July 4 Independence Day Fireworks Celebration
Starting from around noon to 11 p.m., large crowds and heavy traffic should be expected to and from Treasure Island.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., no traffic will be allowed north of Lombard Street, from Van Ness to Doyle Drive, except for residents.
As many as 200,000 people are expected in the event area. Traffic congestion and disruption of transit services are expected in the northern section of the city. To ensure the safety of the riding public, customers should pay attention to their surroundings and allow extra travel time to get around the City.
The following street closures will be in effect:
- 6 a.m., Sunday to 5 p.m., Monday
- Jefferson Street from Aquatic Park to Hyde Street
- 6 a.m., Monday to 1 a.m., Tuesday
- Beach Street from Polk Street to the Terminus
- 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday
- Van Ness Avenue between North Point Street and the Municipal Pier Terminus
- 11 a.m., Monday to 5 a.m., Tuesday
- Jefferson Street between Hyde and Powell streets
- 8:30 p.m. to midnight, Monday
- Marina Boulevard exit off Doyle Drive may be closed
- 9:20 to 10:15 p.m., Monday
- Northbound Embarcadero between Broadway and Bay Street

Giants Baseball Games
- Three games against the Chicago White Sox: 1) 7:15 p.m., Friday, July 1; 2) 1:05 p.m., Saturday, July 2; and 3) 1:05 p.m., Sunday, July 3.
To accommodate events that will take place at the ballpark, the following street closures will be enforced:
- Two and a half hours before the opening pitch, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic. King Street will reopen after first pitch until the seventh inning.
- From the seventh inning until post-game traffic dies down, the SFMTA will again close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets to vehicle traffic in order to reduce congestion on city streets.
- Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street Bridge (Peter R. Maloney Bridge) will be closed to all traffic except Muni, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period.
- 2nd Street, west side, between Brannan and King Streets
- 2nd Street, east side, between Townsend and King Streets
- 3rd Street, east side, north of King Street
